Christ, Our Passover Lamb
"Get rid of the old yeast, so that you may be a new unleavened batch — as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed."
— 1 Corinthians 5:7
The Passover feast is one of the most profound connections between the Old and New Testaments. Every element of the Seder — the lamb, the unleavened bread, the bitter herbs, the four cups of wine — points forward to the death and resurrection of Yeshua (Jesus) as the fulfillment of God's redemptive plan.
As a Jewish believer in Jesus, Dan Olds has celebrated Passover his entire life. He would love to come to your church in the spring, around Passover time, and either conduct a full Messianic Passover Seder or give a Passover presentation — helping your congregation see the Jewish Roots of their faith in a whole new way.
The Messianic Passover Haggadah
The Messianic Passover Haggadah
The Seder will be led using The Messianic Passover Haggadah — a beautifully written guide that walks participants through the traditional Passover Seder while illuminating how each element finds its fulfillment in Jesus the Messiah.
The word Haggadah means "telling" in Hebrew — it is the story of God's redemption of Israel from Egypt, retold every year at Passover. The Messianic version reveals how that same redemption story culminates in the sacrifice of Yeshua, our Passover Lamb.
Participants follow along in their own copy of the Haggadah, making it an interactive and memorable experience for the whole congregation. Dan will supply the Haggadahs for your event.
For a full Seder, Dan will also provide a list of traditional Passover foods and recipes so your church can prepare an authentic Passover table for the evening.
A Rich, Interactive Experience
The Messianic Passover Seder is an immersive, participatory event — not a lecture. Your congregation will actively engage with the story of redemption and see it through fresh eyes.
A full Messianic Seder is an evening event. A shorter Passover presentation is also available for Sunday services or smaller gatherings.
Open to any Southern California church or congregation — small groups, mid-size churches, and large congregations are all welcome.
No familiarity with Jewish tradition is required. Dan will guide your congregation through every element of the Seder with warmth and clarity.
Passover falls in the spring (March or April). Contact Dan early to reserve a date — availability is limited each season.
Elements of the Passover Seder
Each element of the Passover table carries deep symbolic meaning — and each one points to Jesus. Here is a glimpse of what your congregation will explore:
-
The Passover Lamb — The central symbol of Passover, whose blood protected Israel in Egypt, fulfilled in Jesus as the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world (John 1:29).
-
The Matzah (Unleavened Bread) — Striped and pierced in its making, the matzah is a striking picture of the body of the Messiah, broken for us.
-
The Four Cups of Wine — Each cup represents one of God's four promises of redemption from Exodus 6. The third cup — the Cup of Redemption — is the cup Jesus took at the Last Supper.
-
The Bitter Herbs — A reminder of the bitterness of slavery in Egypt, and of the cost of sin that Jesus bore on our behalf.
-
The Afikomen — A piece of matzah that is hidden and then "ransomed" — a beautiful picture of the death, burial, and resurrection of the Messiah.
-
The Retelling of the Exodus — The story of God's deliverance of Israel from Egypt, read from the Haggadah, revealing how the entire Exodus narrative foreshadows God's ultimate act of redemption in Jesus.
Completely Free — No Honorarium
